In 2015, the Content Marketing Institute found that 70 percent of B2B marketers are creating more content than they did a year ago. I am one of those marketers. This means I am constantly working to create new and engaging content for my company’s customer base. Putting out exciting content on a daily basis is not easy, and standing out is getting even more difficult. I work in tech, so trust me on this!
How can you make sure your content stays fresh and gets the right attention?
Here are my top content marketing tips 2017 edition
Make sure all the content you create has value
If it’s not relevant, unique, or helpful to your customers, trash it. Your customers only want content that is going to help them in some way. This could be a blog no one has written before, a video answering a question they have or a whitepaper on a product you sell. Make sure your customers see the value of the content, without forcing it or trying too hard to sell your products.
Utilize your blog
Businesses that blog consistently often convert more site visitors to paid customers. Hubspot found that marketers who make blogging a priority are 13x more likely to see a positive ROI. This doesn’t mean that you have to blog every day. Try to post a blog once a week, on the same day every week, to give customers a reason to keep coming back.
Interact with your customers
Interactive content is quickly becoming a go-to marketing strategy. Don’t get left behind. Start creating quizzes, interactive infographics and other tools that enable your customers to interact with your website. A Demand Metric survey shows that interactive content generates conversions 70 percent of the time, while passive content converts only 36 percent. This is because users find interactive content useful or informative, which automatically adds value.
Many websites create content by using guest bloggers and industry experts. Find the top blogs in your industry and ask if you can contribute content. When possible, link back to your website. This will help generate more traffic to your site and help increase your online presence.
Share your content
Sharing your content on social media encourages your customers to do the same. Anytime you write a blog, create a video or any other engaging content, post it to your social media sites. This puts your content in front of a larger audience by allowing customers to share it without visiting your website.
Email marketing continues to be one of the biggest revenue creators for businesses. The 2016 State of Marketing report found that 49 percent of marketers say, “…email is directly linked to their business’ primary revenue source.” When possible, use email to share your marketing content. This can be done through newsletters, weekly social snapshots, promotions. etc.
Are you ready to be a content marketing superstar? If so follow these steps and make sure the content you create gets the right attention.
